Welding liability insurance

Iíve been talking to some city gas companies about doing some welding for them. They are requiring me to carry an umbrella policy, so far Iím not really having much luck. The couple quotes I have got are ridiculously high for no more than what Iím gonna be doing for them. Was wondering what other insurance companies you guys might recommend or what kind of insurance any of you carry? Thanks!

Re: Welding liability insurance

Unless your going to do 250 thousand plus worth of work for them dont bother . As soon as you mentioned Gas and Welding that changed everything ! Especially if your Companie has very little years of work experience for them to grade you on your paying big ! High risk .

Re: Welding liability insurance

Weldo, thanks for the feedback. That's what Ive been finding out, is that its not really worth it for just a side hussle! I've been welding for a pipeline company for the past 10 years and never had to worry about carrying my own insurance! Just been looking into doing a little side work. thanks!
