Getting gear stolen off yer' rig.

Hello rig welders,

Just had my first experience with getting stuff stolen off my truck. Came out yesterday morning from a Hotel in Casper, WY to find my alternator and distributor had been stolen off my SA200. The right hand door was pulled off and was laying in the truck bed.
(glad they didn't steal the door for scrap )

I know there is no magic technique to avoiding situation like this, I do keep all my tools and leads locked up.

Any one use a Heavy duty truck tarp, or welder cover or any other method to deter theft?

lock bracket on welder doors? mine are homemade and about 1/8" thick, pretty heavy.

Park in any special area? I like to park right in front of the lobby when i go to hotels. Or right outside my room at motels. I don't have a camper

Any one have a good security system on there rig? maybe something hooked to your cellphone. or some type of baby monitor.

I am not sure how I can be more responsible but i have a feeling the old timers have dealt with this many times and have good tips.

thanks yall,
