After successfully avoiding it for ten years, I finally went to the dark side and went to work in a refinery. All this sitting around waiting for ______ is making me stir crazy....

Re: What's up Everyone ?

Been busy close to home in S Fla. Jack and bore, well casing, hot tapping (Thanks Weldo), chiller piping, ammonia piping, cooling tower replacements, med gas and shoe shines. In order to keep going here you have to keep a rake on your truck to stay busy.
I was in Orlando area yesterday and saw some of the right of way being cleared for the FPL gas line running from top of Lake Okeechobee to Northern Alabama. I was told it will be 30" and 36." We did a bunch of jack and bore work from the Indian town to West Palm Beach 30" run a few years ago for Troy.

Just turned 67 2 months ago, I don't think I'll do any main line work. Plenty of nice work down here close to my chiropractor!

Re: What's up Everyone ?

Same old shit. Got a 48" firing up next week in Georgia and a 42" kicking off in late November. Stepping out of my comfort zone and going to try and tackle two jobs and have hired some help.

We had a few meetings and they ended up saying I was more important to them as a welding sub then as a superintendent...., plus I don't think they liked my 60k a year salary I asked for....., especially when they can hire a green inexperienced college kid for 50k. They offered me 50k but I turned it down.
